Beijing Prohibits Ineffective Drugs

Ten types of drugs that claim overblown effectiveness are banned in Beijing. These drugs supposedly fight diabetes and high blood pressure among other ailments but are not scientifically proven.

In reaction to this, the drugs have been pulled out from stores across Beijing while retractions on its advertisements are to be printed by media outlets in accordance to drug advertising’s new law.

There has been a growing concern to uphold the quality of China’s exports in the midst of its inferior drug and food supply due to counterfeit and spoiled products. U.S. has recently banned seafood from China. Despite this Wang Xinpei, Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesman, has stated that Chinese exports are safe after looking into the ban.
